Witcher Dev Pays Heartfelt Tribute To Vesemir Actor Who Recently Passed Away

Earlier this year, The Witcher 3 actor William “Bill” Roberts, who played Vesemir, passed away. Developer CD Projekt Red has now released a special video paying tribute to the late actor.

“Today, we bid him a fond farewell. You taught us, you gave advice, you cared for us. Kaer Morhen will never be the same without you. Godspeed, dear old friend,” CD Projekt said in a social media post. This was accompanied by a video of some memorable Vesemir moments from The Witcher 3, including the character’s own death in the game and Geralt saying he died like a hero.

An American-born actor who made his career in Britain, Roberts was an accomplished stage, TV, and film actor, and he did voice work for many video games. Beyond The Witcher, Roberts voiced characters in Crysis, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Atomic Heart, among others.

On the stage, he appeared in West End productions of Of Mice and Men and The Aristrocrats. On the screen, he appeared in the movie Cold Mountain and the Inspector Morse TV series.

He was a writer, too, publishing a biography of the actor Marisa Pavan earlier this year.
