Devil May Cry Anime Renewed For Season 2 On Netflix

Last week, Netflix debuted the first season of Devil May Cry, which is based on the long-running Capcom video game series. Seven days later, Netflix has officially renewed the series and ordered Devil May Cry Season 2.

As part of the announcement, Netflix disclosed that Devil May Cry had 5.3 million views in its first three days and debuted at No. 4 on Netflix’s global top 10 series list. The first season also received a 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Former Power Rangers actor Johnny Yong Bosch leads the series as the voice of Dante, a human/demon hybrid who is one of the most lethal demon hunters in the world. Bosch previously voiced Nero in the Devil May Cry video games.

Scout Taylor-Compton co-stars in the first season of the series as Mary Ann Arkham/Lady, with Hoon Lee as the White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo Ferino, and the late Kevin Conroy as Vice President William Baines. Conroy, who was the most prominent voice of Batman for three decades, recorded most of his lines as Baines before he passed away in 2022. Ian James Corlett stepped in to provide Baines’ voice for any scenes that didn’t feature Conroy.

Devil May Cry showrunner Adi Shankar recently spoke with GameSpot about Season 1’s sixth episode, which was a largely dialogue-free exploration of the origins of Lady and the White Rabbit. It was arguably one of the best episodes of the season.

Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere window for Devil May Cry Season 2, but two-to-three-year waits between seasons haven’t been unusual for Netflix’s original animated series. If Devil May Cry Season 2 follows a similar pattern, it may not arrive until 2027 or 2028.
