Somehow, Star Wars Has An Official Map Again

Star Wars fans can now explore the franchise’s far (far!) away galaxy in detail, as Disney has revealed the official map for the franchise. It includes hundreds of planets–ranging from iconic locations like Coruscant and Naboo to recent additions like Ghorman and Exegol–and the official Star Wars site says that it plans to periodically update the map.

Outside of some very select media, the Star Wars galaxy has been the primary setting for the films, TV series, and spin-offs. Things have been somewhat murky since George Lucas sold the franchise to Disney in 2012, as several of the stories–and by extension, their locations–have been consigned to the non-canonical Star Wars Legends expanded universe, while Disney has forged ahead with establishing its own continuity across the sequel trilogy, the High Republic era, and other transmedia projects. If you’re looking for a specific planet on the map, there’s a full list of them to explore.

Looking over the map–which is based on a 2009 version created for Star Wars: The Essential Atlas–there are several major planets here referencing films like The Phantom Menace, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi. Eagle-eyed cartographers can spot a few planets seen or referenced in video games like Star Wars Outlaws and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Tanalorr can be found in the Varada sector, and given just how important that planet is to Star Wars lore, it’s going to be interesting to see what Respawn Entertainment does with it in the upcoming Star Wars Jedi sequel.

Several other Star Wars games are also in development currently, and one of them that we’ve seen more of lately is Star Wars: Zero Company, a turn-based tactics game set during the final days of the Clone Wars. On the big screen, fans can also expect to see The Mandalorian & Grogu next year and Star Wars: Starfighter in 2027.
