John Carpenter’s Halloween is one of the most iconic horror movies of all time. It first hit theaters in 1978 and spawned a franchise with a long list of sequels, spin-offs, and reboots. If you’re a big Halloween fan, you’ll want to check out the upcoming Amazon-exclusive 4K Blu-ray editions of the first two films. Halloween: Limited Edition Steelbook and Halloween II: Limited Edition Steelbook are up for preorder for $45 each ahead of their September 16 release.

This Limited Edition Steelbook includes both 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray versions of the classic horror flick. The big selling point, however, is the exclusive steelbook–which features artwork of Michael Myers that sprawls across the front onto the back. There’s also additional artwork on the inside. Unfortunately, a list of bonus features has not yet been announced. However, it’s likely to offer many of the same features available on the 2021 Halloween: Collector’s Edition, including audio commentary, documentaries, theatrical trailers, and various other featurettes.
It is worth noting that the 2021 4K release is a three-disc set, while this new one is two discs. Both editions are produced by Shout Factory.

Halloween II’s Limited Edition Steelbook features a similar steelbook design, with artwork that spans both the front and back of the case. Inside the case is additional artwork inspired by Halloween and Samhain–an old Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest season.
Interestingly, the logos on the side of the case indicate that Halloween II’s Limited Edition Steelbook is a three-disc set with 4K UHD, 1080p, and DVD versions of the sequel. Shout Factory’s 2021 Collector’s Edition is also a three-disc set, except it has one 4K and two 1080p discs. But just like with the original, bonus features are likely to be similar. We’ll update this story when we learn more.

If you’re interested in adding some Halloween horror to your home theater ahead of September 16, plenty of other Blu-rays are available. The Halloween 4K Collection is an excellent choice, as it pulls together all the movies between 1995 and 2002. It’s also on sale for just $85.55 (was $130). Another cool option is the Halloween 2-Movie Collection, which gets you Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018) on Blu-ray. It’s also seeing a nice price cut to $23 (was $30). You can also get the 2018 film in the modern Halloween Trilogy 4K box set for $55 (was $80).
In addition to the aforementioned 4K Collector’s Editions of the first two films, Shout Factory has matching editions for the next three in the franchise: Season of the Witch, The Return of Michael Myers, and The Revenge of Michael Myers.
